Increasing the amount of search engine traffic to your site should always stay a high priority. And your traffic should always be targeted. You don’t have to be any kind of SEO expert to bring extra traffic to your site. By using the proper keywords and some basics in page linking, you can boost your traffic as good as anybody.

There are three main strategies for immediate use that will help you to achieve your goal of increased traffic, and bring targeted visitors to your site. These are ‘Keyword research’, ‘domain name selection’, and ‘page linking’. We’ll go over these three in more detail now.

The first one is KEYWORD RESEARCH – Your keywords should be well thought out and relevant to what your business or product is about. You’ll want to find long tail keywords that are highly targeted.

What is meant by ‘long tail’ keywords, is a phrase that’s more focused and doesn’t have as much competition as would a phrase that’s more general. A good example would be ‘house for sale’. This as a keyword would have loads of competition due to it’s general makeup. But if you added more specifics to it, like ‘house for sale in Chicago’, now you’ve made it more of a ‘targeted’ keyword.

You don’t want a keyword that’s gonna put you in competition with loads of other sites. Plus it’ll make it harder for you to get high rankings in the search engines. By using long tail keywords you can get more targeted traffic, and higher rankings.

The second is DOMAIN NAME SELECTION – Regardless of your business or product, you want to select a good domain name that uses a word or phrase to accurately describe what business or product you represent. This will tie in the relevancy factor between your domain name and your content. And it also will improve your search engine rankings. There’s a stiff competition for domain names, so a little ‘creativity’ counts for a lot.

The third and last one is PAGE LINKING – Whether you’re a blogger or have a website, you should link relevant content together between all your pages. You can use your primary keyword as your ‘linking text’, and this will emphasize the relevancy, and this practice is highly recommended.

When you link your pages like this, it makes it easier for the search engines and for your visitors to navigate through your site. Again, this causes your search engine rankings to go up, which in turn means more visitor for you.

No online business can survive without traffic. It’s the life blood of your success. Search engine traffic is extremely valuable because the traffic that comes from it is targeted traffic. So it’s in your own best interest to make your site search engine friendly. With proper keyword usage and linking, you can boost your traffic and be successful. And you don’t have to be an SEO expert.
