Take a look at all of the places where you find the key word. You will find it in title, h1, and in the top left hand. In addition through the content of the page you will see the keyword in bold.
Don’t miss out on noting how the keyword is utilized in bold throughout the text. It flows with the content, and doesn’t look out of place. If you are curious as to how effective this really is going to be, then do a Google search on the keywords marlon and sanders. Don’t be surprised when you find the internal page http://mikes-marketing-tools.com/directory/marlon-sanders.html.and when you do find it you will see it is listed right on the first page of the search return. It arrived here because of the link structure that Mike strategically planned when laying out the structure of that site.
To see just the opposite side of this success go take a look at http://www.you-must-think-big.com. Don’t even expect to find this site in the search listings top 100. Obviously there is no traffic being driven to this site via the search engines.
The h1 tag also makes no sense and when we move toward the body tag, we can find that a huge header graphic image forms the part of the main content which is not at all recommended.
Combine all of this with the confusing and poorly done linking strategy, it most certainly spells failure. The links are by way of graphics.
If you were to perform a search on the keyword “Business Development” which is related to this particular site, you would see the poor results. You would not find this site ranked in the first hundred rankings.
The lesson to be learned here is always using your main key words to hyperlink to your internal pages. You will soon see a boost of your site where you stand in ranking with the main search engines such as MSN, Google, Yahoo and several of the others. Read and research as much as you can about SEO. This is what it will take to get your rankings up to where they will be the life support of your website.
